About project

This is presentation of the project, information about the plan and realization.

Realizer of the project is municipality Mladý Smolivec. Project was support from the European Regional Development Fund. Cycle path construction performed STRABAG PLC.

Object of project realization is building of almost 3 km long cycle path, situated on the route, which was in 16th and 17th century used by coachmen like important provincial path. Formaska path led from Příbram or Dobříš to Klatovy and then to Bavarian Regensburg. Exceptional is the fact, that in the area of west estates Starý Smolivec, thru where the path goes, during the Rebellion of the Estates about 390 years ago, there was a confrontation of the Kaisers army and the army of the Czech Estates. There are lots of historical sites around this path. The path connects villages Starý Smolivec a Dožice.

There are three rest areas, which can be used by visitors. In this areas are tables, bands, bike racks, trash cans. It is located along the path six information sheets that inform visitors and local residents about the historical significance and attractions located nearby path.
The path can be used by cross-country skiers during the winter time and in the rest of the year can be used by bikers for cycle-tourism and cycle-transport, hikers, or like track for in-liners.

The project includes the construction of 2,950 m long cycle path that is made in two parts.

1. Dožice – road II/177 Radošice – Mladý Smolivec, long 1 420 m (part 1)
2. Road II/177 Radošice – Mladý Smolivec – Starý Smolivec, long 1 530 m (part 2)

The total investment for the construction of cycle path was 13 893 068,35 CZK, of which grant was 11 809 108,04 CZK. Grants were awarded the Operational Programme ROP NUTS II Southwest axis: Tourism Development, Support Area: Development of tourism infrastructure, the number of challenges: 17th ROP NUTS II Southwest (increasing the proportion of environmentally friendly forms of tourism on tourism in the region).

The project has been realized since 2009, the physical realisation of the project was from 1. 5. 2012 to 30. 6. 2013.
